B is for Bra

Taking a step back in Finishing School to fill in one of the gaps....B is for Bra. Being 21 weeks pregnant I have noticed quite a few changes in my body recently. My clothes, including my bras, not fitting being one. So I went to get measured for maternity bras. I went to Marks & Spencers and the lady I dealt with was lovely. She explained that I didn't need maternity bras yet as I was likely to increase again (!!) but pointed out some bras that will fit now and will cope with a little more growth so I won't need to buy more than I need to. From my small (but perfectly formed) 32A bras, I have gone up to a 34B. This was quite a shock to me, and explains why my bras were so uncomfortbale. But I feel so much better now & I was amazed at the difference it has made. I will definitely be going back when I need to get some maternity bras and will make a point of getting measured regularly. Again, Lottie, thanks. :)

Making gumpaste pansies

Here are some photos of my first attempt at making pansies. First Pansy Second attempt Finished pansies I did have a set of pansy petal cutters (although in a set of 3 there was one I didn't use) and copied some photos of real pansies, plus this photo tutorial from CakeCentral.com . I didn't have a calyx cutter, but used an 8-point flower plunger cutter & blob of paste to keep the flower on the wire. I am quite happy with the results and think that with some stronger colours they could look really good.

Wedding Cakes & Patriotic Cupcakes

However I was very intrugued to see the wedding cakes. Yes, Cakes! A gorgeous and elegant fruit cake, made by Fiona Cairns. It consisted of 17 cakes stacked and beautifully decorated. Kate Middleton was very involved in the design of the cake, including sending a list of the 17 flowers she would like ot have included on the cake, all symbolising love, marriage and happiness. Unbaked, and made of crushed Rich Tea biscuits and chocolate. Photo from: http://styleclone.com/17052/the-royal-wedding-cakes-revealed/ I was also very interested to find out that 2 was a very conservative number of cakes for a royal wedding & I found some lovely stories about royal wedding cakes on my browsing the net.
