D is for Dream...

Image
Yup, it's time for Lottie's Finishing School Workshop and D is for Dream. Our task for this is to write down our dream. So here it is... My dream is to have my own tea shop. I have always enjoyed baking and have recently set myself up so I could bake for others. I registered with kitchen with the environmental health and passed my food hygeine course then told people about it. It's been just over 6 weeks now, and while it's been a slow start, I am enjoying it. But I do stil have my day job. I also do a lot of knitting, and would love to design my own patterns, but need a bit more practice for that I think. Recently I have started thinking more and more about having my own shop. Somewhere I can make cakes, sell tea and do knitting. I have started planning what it'll look like, what I'll sell, who I'll employ, and looking at where Id set it up! :) So to bring it too life - here are some pictures: Cakes to sell Hand knit tea cosies There'll be ...

Peppa Pig & Welcome Home

Image
This is the Peppa Pig cake I made for a friend's daughter's 2d birthday, and I am so pleased with it I just had to post it to my blog! I also love the writing, a technique I definitely intend to use over & over again. Made using my 'make any word' letter press kit, you just press the letters into the icing when still soft & then I painted (with a very fine brush) some lustre powder into the groove. Gorgeous! I've also had an idea for a cake with bunting for a while & with my little sister coming home to visit, I decided to give it a go. Again I got to use my letterpress kit, and the covering was done quickly so not as perfect as I'd like, but Sian was pleased with it. Would also make an ideal mini cake for a new mum with 'It's a boy!' bunting. Made up of 3 layers of sponge separated with jam & buttercream 4" round, it gives 4 very generous slices. Next time I will add a 'string' to tie all the flags together....but if you...

Wardrobe Revamp - Day 2

Image
It's day 2 of of Lottie's 3rd Challege , and this is the result of my sorting. I even had enough space to move my pyjamas into the bottom drawer! Plus my wardrobe is full of clothes put away tidily and sorted in colour order. It's so easy to see what I have, and even though it doesn't look it here - I have SO MANY CLOTHES! This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are clothes waiting to be washed, to be dried, to be ironed, to be put away. There are clothes in the attic and in my spare room. I have already found some that I had completely forgotten about. The only problem I'll have now is not finding something to wear, but deciding what I want to wear... and NO excuse not to look fabulous all of the time. :)

C is for Clothes...

Image
I am skipping 'B is for Bra' for the time being until I can get myself an appointment. I have been for a bra fitting within the last year but I completely disagreed with the verdict. I was wearing 32A bras and was told I should be a 30C, but the bras were not comfortable at all. I will go again. Sometime. :) Anyway, I have been planning to sort out my clothes for a while and Lottie's post has come at just the right time. So this evening I have started sorting out my clothes. Getting rid of clothes I haven't worn for a while or am never quite sure about wearing. I have started separating Summer & Winter clothes so that my wardrobe is a little clearer and it'll feel like a whole new wardrobe every season! Another part of the task is: "Sit down and think about whose dress sense you admire and why you admire it.  Do you like matchy matchy, do you like retro? Do you think someone looks good when they wear statement jewellery?  Is there a type of dres...

Summer Fete

Image
Yesterday I held my first stall at a summer fete and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately I didn't take a single photo - numpty! But I had a great day, sold EVERYTHING and had lots of enquiries. Plus have an order for cookies as wedding favours. :) Yay - I love making cakes!
