Candy Cakes

Image
Here is what I bought from the Candy Cakes shop in Covent Garden. The lovely girl in the shop gave me 5 for the price of 4 (at £2.60 a cupcake) and I managed to save 3 for the photo shoot. :O) Flavours were chocolate, lemon, toffee, strawberry (I got 2 toffee ones!) Very nice cakes, however I got very excited and had to explain to my friends and family why I got quite so giddy when I noticed the shop. Though this did mean most of them bought a muffin (£3.50 each) - all gave very postive reviews! This has now made me more determined to work my way round the rest of the cake shops in London, and gives me more excuses to visit family and friends. :) Yes - that means you Tash! :)

Going into business

For several reasons* I have decided that I am going to try to set up my own cake decorating business. I've been thinking about it for so long, I do enjoy it and I am able to fit it in around my full time job - as long as I'm sensible. And DH is up for it too - in fact I thnk he quites fancies becoming a baking partner and branching out into pies & bread...but first things first! A space to bake So I have spent some time looking into what I would need to do to set it up. There's no rush as I still have some experimenting to do, but there's also so much to do if it's going to be done properly. The main issue is the kitchen. We have three cats, who live in our kitchen - which probably wouldn't go down well with the environmental health people. So options include finding another kitchen & paying rent, or converting a room in the house. Then I need to look at business rates, planning permission, checking the mortgage people are happy.... Useful resources so f...

Towards the end of last week I was asked to give some details regarding my hobby and how it helps me relax. Here's the online article: From Hobby to Healthy Living

The 6 Nations & a very, very long scarf!

Image
Today is the start of the 6 Nations. I will be supporting Wales. Over the last few weeks Louise, from Jamie and Louise on BBC Radio Wales , has been working on knitting the longest scarf in Wales in support of the Welsh rugy team and asking knitters across Wales to help. So this is me working on my 4 foot 6 section of scarf: At last count the scarf measured 2,575 foot. See this tweet . That's a lot of scarf! I do enjoy a game of rugby, but if I'm honest I struggle to watch 3 in a weekend. Unless I have my knitting to hand. Very much hoping I can get all my planned knitting done. Unfortunately most of them are gifts, so I can't really say much about them yet. Only one thing left to say, I guess..... COME ON, WALES!
